Friends of the Maison Dieu (Dover Town Hall)

What is The Friends of the Maison Dieu (Dover Town Hall)?

The Friends will be a charity run by a committee of volunteers.

The Charity’s objectives are:

  • The preservation, conservation and restoration of the Maison Dieu through fundraising
  • To encouraging learning and engagement for the public benefit, by the widest possible audience, including local people and visitors from the UK and abroad
  • Promoting the Maison Dieu through the dissemination of knowledge

Who is it for?

  • Anyone who is interested in volunteering to support the Maison Dieu, whether they have been involved previously or not
  • Members can give as much or as little time as they have. For those that have more time to give, there are committee roles available
  • We also hope to set up ‘Young Friends of the Maison Dieu Dover’ branch

What will they do?

  • Advocate for the Maison Dieu (e.g. at local and district wide events)
  • Be a pool of volunteers for the Maison Dieu engagement team events
  • Provide regular guided tours
  • Raise funds through activities and grant applications for the Maison Dieu
  • Contribute to and share research on the Maison Dieu
  • Provide knowledge and experience to advisory group meetings
  • Act as an informal consultation group for future Maison Dieu activities

  • Exclusive membership events throughout the year (trips, workshops, lectures, first views)
  • Free training (audience engagement, collections care, research, H&S etc)
  • Representation on the Maison Dieu advisory group
  • No membership fees for the first 2 years after the Charity has been create
